Our Story

It was IU Football season in Bloomington. Cam was working game day traffic; Becca was volunteering in one of the concession stands at that particular football game. They met in passing in a parking lot before the game, introduced by Jon Hoffmeister - Cam’s coworker and one of Becca’s close family friends. Even though they only met briefly, immediately after Becca left the parking lot, Cam asked Jon about Becca, specifically, if he would “hook them up.”

Later, Jon’s wife, Datha, called Becca and started the phone conversation with “I know this may sound very strange, but…” then proceeded to ask Becca if they could give Cam her number to which Becca, overjoyed, responded, “Sure, why not?” Contact information was later exchanged and within the first few text messages, Cam and Becca found several similarities such as traveling, adventure, scuba diving, and hiking (which turned out to be untrue). Becca’s idea of hiking consists of miles on mountains through treacherous terrain, while Cam’s idea of hiking consists of walking from the parking lot to the nearest scenic view. However, they both hike with alcoholic beverages in their hands, so compromises were made.

One date turned to two; two dates turned to three, and so on. Before long, they were planning trips together to Colorado, Florida, California, Tennessee, and more. Throughout their journeys, they both realized they had found the perfect way to manage opposing work schedules, and made the best of all the small moments - small moments that turned into the new normal.

On March 17, 2024, St. Patrick’s Day, in Port Canaveral, Florida, Cam and Becca were departing on their first cruise, Royal Caribbean’s Wonder of the Seas. After a day of poolside drinks, Cam wanted to explore the ship, specifically Central Park, prior to their first dinner date. As they walked through the beautiful and scenic area, Cam suggested that they take a picture together. This was odd as Becca usually is the one requesting to take pictures. Nonetheless, after a few photos were snapped, Cam proposed. Becca, annoyed, irritated, and frustrated as she thought Cam was joking and trying to prank her (AGAIN), exclaimed to Cam, “Stop! Get Up! You’re mean!” After realizing Cam was being serious, Becca then gave an emphatic “YES!” Please see Becca for her version of events. Please see Cam for his.

Currently, Cam and Becca live in Ellettsville, Indiana with their dog Toad, a German Shepherd and Jack, 13, Evelyn, 12, and Zach, 8. They continue to travel, find adventures, big and small, enjoy cooking together and are officially wine club members at Oliver Winery. That brings the story to June 20, 2025 to celebrate with their closest friends and family. Thank you for being part of the adventure!
